Injuries limited the Sacramento Kings roster that head coach Doug Christie had available to him for most of last season. Just three games into their 2026-27 season, and more of their rotational options are sidelined.

Maxime Raynaud and Dylan Cardwell went down in preseason and have yet to appear in the regular season. Keegan Murray left in the fourth quarter of game two against Portland and did not return.

The Kings provided an update on all three of their statuses Monday afternoon.

  • Maxime Raynaud is progressing well in his rehabilitation following a right patellar subluxation sustained during the game against the Golden State Warriors on Oct. 10. He will be listed as out and will be reevaluated in approximately two weeks

Raynaud went down in a preseason game before a wheelchair was brought onto the court to help him off. That site left many worried that it could be signficant, making the news of a subluxation relatively good.

On Oct. 11th, the team announced Raynaud’s injury and said he would be reevaluated in two weeks. Fast forward 15 days, and the Kings say he will be reevaluated in approximatley another two weeks.

That’s a minimum of three-four more games with Raynaud on the sideline.

  • Dylan Cardwell continues his return-to-play process following a left calf strain and will begin on-court activities. Cardwell will be listed as out and will be reevaluated in approximately seven days

Cardwell’s left calf strain was first announced on Oct 13th. At that time, the Kings said he would be reevaluated in approximatley two weeks. Thirteeen days later, the team say he will be reevaluate in approximatley seven days. With he and Raynaund both sidelined, Christie’s center depth takes a big hit as Precious Achiuwa and two-way forward Jonathan Mogbo have been the reserve frontcourt options of choice so far.

  • Keegan Murray experienced soreness and stiffness in his left ankle following the Kings game against Portland on Oct. 23. Murray has been diagnosed with left ankle capsulitis and will be listed as out. He will be reevaluated in approximately 10 to 14 days

In Murray’s case, him not being part of the closing lineup for Sacramento’s second game of the season raised some eyebrows. Following the game, Christie said the forward had gone back to the locker room in the fourth quarter but was able to return. Instead, he elected to stick with Daeqwon Plowden who had stepped up in his absence.

Murray’s left ankle capsulitis was first revealed prior to Sunday’s matchup with Memphis, who roster his twin brother, Kris Murray. The Kings’ forward suffered the first significant ankle injury of his career last season, which was the primary factor to him apprearing in just 23 games.

Begining a five-year, $140 rookie-scale extension, Murray is expected to play a significant role as one of their core starers moving forward. Re-injuring the same left ankle for the second time since training camp began is cause for concern, but he’s expected to be re-evalauted in approximatley 10-14 days.

Of course, there’s also Ben Simmons who tore his Achiless before the start of the regular season. It’s unknown whether Raynaud and Cardwell would both be in the nightly rotation, but assumedly at least one of them would’ve functioned as the backup center behind Domantas Sabonis.

That leaves three to four rotational pieces unavailable for Christie already as the Kings sit at 0-3. With Simmons being the only longterm injury, others will get chances to step up and show their value while Murray, Raynaud, and Cardwell are sidelined.
