Chris Watkins, Brenden Nunes, and Frankie Cartoscelli joined The Allen Stiles Show to discuss the Sacramento Kings trading up to draft Colorado State guard/wing Nique Clifford, rumors about them looking to move on from Malik Monk, and plenty more.

New Kings general manager Scott Perry made the first move of his regime on Wednesday’s 2025 NBA Draft, trading a future top-16 protected 2027 Spurs’ first-round pick to Oklahoma City in exchange for pick 24, which they used to select Clifford.

In the weeks leading up to Wednesday night’s 2025 NBA Draft, whispers turned into what felt like screams that the Sacramento Kings were looking to trade into the first round.

Recently hired general manager Scott Perry had his eyes on several players who ended up being drafted elsewhere, but remained locked in acquiring a first-round pick as the night winded down.

As targets came off the board, one noteworthy name remained–another that Sacramento had its eyes on during the pre-draft process.

Colorado State guard Nique Clifford, a 6’6 wing who was one of the best players in all of college basketball during the 2024-25 season, was there for the taking at 24th, and Perry made his move.

What’s next for the Sacramento Kings offseason?

Following the 2025 NBA Draft, the Sacramento Kings will prepare for the start of NBA Free Agency.

The NBA free agency negotiation period begins on Monday, June 30th, at 3 pm PT, meaning Sacramento will be able to negotiate with players — but agreements cannot be officially completed until Sunday, July 6th.
