NBA All-Stars talk about about past and present Kings in Indianapolis

Denver Nuggets center Nikola Jokic and Phoenix Suns guard Devin Booker made sure to talk about past and present Sacramento Kings players during All-Star weekend.

Just because the Sacramento Kings aren’t represented in Indianapolis during All-Star Weekend doesn’t mean they’ve been forgotten about.

First, the preset. During the media portion of All-Star Weekend, Phoenix Suns guard Devin Booker pointed out there are currently seven former Kentucky players taking part in the festivities. But, there should be eight.

“De’Aaron [Fox] should be here too,” Booker said.

The reigning Clutch Player of the Year is averaging 26.8 points, 5.5 assists and 4.1 rebounds. Fox, along with center Domantas Sabonis have led the Sacramento Kings to an identical record through 54 games as they did one year ago (31-23).

That covers the present. What’s being said about former Kings players?

Denver Nuggets center and two-time NBA MVP Nikola Jokic had high praise for fellow Serbian Peja Stojakovic. When asked which former player would thrive in today’s NBA, Jokic didn’t hesitate to mention the former Kings forward.

“Peja Stojakovic in today’s NBA would be really good. I mean, he was an All-Star even when he played, but I think in today’s NBA, he’d be amazing,” Jokic said.

The three-time NBA All-Star shot the lights out during his 16-year NBA career. Along with winning the NBA All-Star Game’s three-point contest twice, Stojakovic currently ranks 27th in NBA history in 3-pointers made with 1,760. During his eight seasons in Sacramento, he averaged 5.2 per game. For comparison, Stephen Curry is averaging 12 3-point attempts this season.
