Watch: Anthony Slater On Zach LaVine Turning On The Aggression In His 42-point Performance With The Kings | 12 mins
Anthony Slater of The Athletic joined The Drive Guys on Tuesday afternoon to discuss Zach LaVine’s aggressive nature in his 42-point performance, how his contract is viewed leaguewide, Malik Monk functioning as a point guard, and more.
Given LaVine’s season-best showing in Sacramento’s Monday night 130-88 win over the Charlotte Hornets, that’s where their conversation kicked off.
Slater outlined how many of the “good guys” around the league don’t want to step on toes when they change teams (especially mid-season) but that the Kings have needed their newly acquired guard to be himself, which is aggressive on the offensive end.
“I think they needed him to turn on the aggression,” Anthony Slater said. “Because, honestly, if he’s not out there being aggressive offensively, then his flaws show more, and his strengths don’t.”
Since trading away De’Aaron Fox, the same deal that led to them acquiring LaVine, Monk has been handed the point guard responsibilities. The guys dove into how that has gone so far, and how it fits into their overall roster construction.
All that and PLENTY of other great conversations can be heard using the link above or on the Sactown Sports YouTube page.
Listen to The Drive Guys from 2 – 6 p.m. PST, Monday through Friday, on Sactown Sports 1140.
