Two-time West Coast Conference Player of the Year Drew Timme has been playing for the Sacramento Kings Summer League team. Throughout their second game in Las Vegas, the Gonzaga product tallied 19 points, five rebounds, four assists, and one steal on an efficient 8/12 from the field.

Doug Christie, coach of the 2024 Summer League Kings, has been running an offense very similar to Sacramento’s main squad. Timme fills the role of Domantas Sabonis, with the offense running through him at the elbows, capitalizing on his playmaking ability.

“Obviously, being a Zag myself, I grew up watching Sabonis,” he said. “Obviously, I’ve watched him in the league as well. I feel pretty comfortable doing that stuff. It’s kind of what I did at GU, and the goal is to get anywhere near what Sabonis has done because he’s a hell of a player.”

As their Summer League action continues, two spots remain on Sacramento’s main roster, with seemingly a hole at the third-string center spot. While Drew Timme may not be the guy for that opening, never say never, and Stockton certainly exists as an option.

The Kings’ Las Vegas Summer League slate continues on Wednesday afternoon with a matchup against the New York Knicks. Action is set to tip off at 12:30 PM PDT and will be broadcast on NBA TV.
