The Sacramento Kings made the unsurprising move to exercise the fourth-year option on forward Keegan Murray’s rookie-scale contract on Thursday, keeping the fourth overall pick from the 2022 NBA Draft in the 916 for at least two more seasons.
Murray, 24, has shown his ability to be a legit two-way threat in the NBA thanks to his defensive versatility and three-point prowess.
With De’Aaron Fox looking to secure a lucrative extension at the end of this season and All-NBA center Domantas Sabonis under contract for four more seasons, Sacramento will surely look to ink Murray to an extension before his rookie-scale deal expires following the 2025-26 season.
For now, Murray will be under contract for at least the next two seasons alongside Fox, Sabonis, and six-time All-Star forward DeMar DeRozan before hitting restricted free agency in Summer 2026.
