Former Sacramento Kings head coach and general manager Jerry Reynolds joined The Drive Guys Friday afternoon to discuss the team’s recent play, whether or not Doug Christie deserves the permanent head coach title after this season, the impact of DeMar DeRozan, and more.

The trio dove into what’s worked throughout their 8-2 run under Christie, including some notable rotational changes — Keon Ellis being the obvious main highlight there.

As the conversation continued, they discussed DeRozan’s role for this team and how it could continue to change as they work through finding an ideal formula.

At 21-20, the team is trending in the right direction, but they must maintain their positive momentum to remain in the hunt for top-six in the West, avoiding the play-in tournament.

With that in mind, many still expect general manager Monte McNair to make a move before the Feb 6th trade deadline. The guys got Jerry’s opinion on Utah forward John Collins as well as some of the other names that have been floated about in rumors.

Adding some forward depth (and potentially a reliable backup center) could aid Doug Chirsite in his attempt to help the Kings climb the standings.
