Report: Sacramento acquires Jalen McDaniels for Vezenkov and Mitchell

According to Woj, the Sacramento Kings are trading Sasha Vezenkov and Davion Mitchell to the Toronto Raptors for Jalen McDaniels.

On the morning of day two of the 2024 NBA Draft, the Sacramento Kings traded Davion Mitchell, Sasha Vezenkov, and the 45th pick to the Toronto Raptors in exchange for Jalen McDaniels, per ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

The move frees up roughly $ 8 million, potentially clearing move for future moves.

Mitchell played three seasons with the Kings after being drafted 9th in the 2021 NBA Draft. On Vezenkov’s end, since he’s come over from the Euroleague, his minutes seemed to not be quite what he expected — three different ankle injuries played a significant factor in that.

Jalen McDaniels has one year, $4,741,800 remaining on his deal. The 6’9 26-year-old averaged 3.4 points, 1.6 rebounds and 0.7 assists on 34.4 percent from the field, 16.9 percent from three, and 73.0 percent from the free throw line in 10.8 minutes per night.

It’s unclear how much the Kings value Jalen McDaniels compared to the flexibility being freed up in this deal.

When is the next NBA off-season date of interest?

The NBA Draft is now a two-night event.

Wednesday, June 26th, will be the first night of the 2024 NBA Draft. The second round will be held on Thursday, June 27th, and the Kings will use their 45th overall pick.

Sacramento hasn’t had a first-round pick since 2022, when it selected Iowa product Keegan Murray with the fourth overall pick.
