Report: Kings agree to deal with Markelle Fultz

The Sacramento Kings have added a backup point guard, signing former number-one overall pick Markelle Fultz, according to reports.

After their trade deadline moves, the Sacramento Kings needed a backup point guard. According to Shams Charania, they have agreed to a deal with 6’4 Markelle Fultz.

The former number-one overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft stands at 6’4 with a 6’7 wingspan, allowing him to make a notable impact on the defensive side of the ball.

Fultz has not played in the NBA this season. Playing in 43 games with the Orlando Magic last season, the guard averaged 7.8 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 2.8 assists on 47/22/69 shooting in 21.2 minutes per night.

It’ll be interesting to see how much Doug Christie implements Markelle Fultz with a roster featuring other playmakers in Malik Monk, Zach LaVine, DeMar DeRozan, and Domantas Sabonis.

On the shoulders of their three-point shooting advantage, the Sacramento Kings defeated the New Orleans Pelicans 119-111 Wednesday night in Smoothie King Center. It’s the first of two consecutive matchups between the two teams.

Keon Ellis (27), DeMar DeRozan (24), and Zach LaVine (23) led the way for Sacramento with 74 combined points.

The Pelicans dominated in the paint, thanks to Zion Williamson, where they had 70 points. However, the Kings doubled their opposition and made triples, going 16/45 from beyond the arc.

Cleaning up their turnovers, committing just one in the second half after ten in the first, was crucial to their success. It wasn’t pretty, but Sacramento’s record improved to 27-26 no matter what.
