Report: Sacramento add Jake LaRavia in trade with Memphis

In the final minutes of the 25-25 NBA trade deadline, Sacramento Kings GM Monte McNair acquired 6'7 Jake LaRavia from the Grizzlies.

The Sacramento Kings made their third and final move just minutes prior to Thursday’s noon trade deadline, adding Jake LaRavia from the Jake LaRavia.

Chris Haynes was first with the news, but Marc Stein clarified that the Kings are sending out Colby Jones, Alex Len, and a 2028 second-round pick in the deal.

After years of poor forward depth, general manager Monte McNair finally added some sizeable depth at that position.

Between acquiring Zach LaVine from the Chicago Bulls in a three-team deal that sent De’Aaron Fox to the San Antonio Spurs, flipping some of the second-rounders they acquired in the deal for Jonas Valancuinas, and the newest trade for Jake LaRavia, it’s a new-look team in California’s capital.

After being the 19th pick in the 2022 NBA Draft, Memphis turned down their fourth-season team option on the 6’7 forward after he played just 70 games over his first two seasons. That leaves him heading into unrestricted free agency this offseason, a year in which he turned his career trajectory around by doing the little things and shooting 44.4 percent from beyond the arc.

Currently sitting at 9th in the crowded Western Conference (25-25), it’ll be interesting to see if interim head coach Doug Christie can lead this group to a resurgent second half of the 24-25 season.

Shortly after trading franchise point guard De’Aaron Fox, the Sacramento Kings used the draft capital they acquired in the deal to add Jonas Valancuinas from the Washington Wizards.

According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, Valancuinas has been traded to the Kings in exchange for Sidy Cissoko and two second-round picks.

Cissoko, acquired from San Antonio in the Fox deal, just participated in Sacramento’s morning Wednesday morning and spoke with reporters afterward. It looks like number 91 will remain unclaimed in the history of the Kings.
