ESPN pivots away from one of their two remaining Sacramento Kings games

According to Sean Cunningham, the Sacramento Kings are losing one of their two remaining ESPN games.

With an already limited amount of national TV, as usual, ESPN has elected to remove one of the two scheduled Sacramento Kings broadcasts remaining this season.

According to FOX40’s Sean Cunningham, their Sunday, March 9th game against the Los Angeles Clippers has been removed from ESPN in favor of that night’s Cleveland Cavaliers at Milwaukee Bucks game.

After the change, Sacramento has one remaining ESPN game, two on TNT, and three on NBA TV. While NBA TV is not technically a national broadcast, it’s hosted a nationally available service.

Kings are losing a national TV broadcast. ESPN dropping the Sunday, March 9 game at LA Clippers and adding Cavaliers at Bucks game.

The Grizzlies at Pelicans game that same day was also dropped by ESPN.

Those remaining scheduled games are as follows:

Monday, March 10th – vs. New York Knicks – 7:30 PM PT – NBA TV
Thursday, March 13th – @ Golden State Warriors – 7:00 PM PT – TNT
Thursday, March 20th – vs. Chicago Bulls – 7:00 PM PT – NBA TV
Saturday, March 22nd – vs. Milwaukee Bucks – 7:00 PM PT – NBA TV
Tuesday, March 25th – vs. Oklahoma City Thunder – 7:00 PM PT – TNT
Wednesday, April 8th – vs. Denver Nuggets – 7:00 PM PT – ESPN

Their other remaining game, which could potentially be swapped in Sacramento’s favor, is De’Aaron Fox’s return to Golden 1 Center when the Kings host the San Antonio Spurs on Friday, March 7th.

Sacramento teased that showdown, their next home game, in their recent win over the Charlotte Hornets and the crowd had a notable reaction to the graphic, which included Fox in his new threads.

The currently scheduled 7:00 PM PT broadcast for that night is the Denver Nuggets hosting the Phoenix Suns. It may be too short notice to make the change, but that’s sure to be a highly energetic atmosphere in California’s capital.

Re-working a team mid-season is always tricky in the NBA. Even more so when that includes removing your leading scorer and integrating another star-caliber talent like the Sacramento Kings did just weeks ago.

Zach LaVine’s first game with the team was 20 days ago. Yet, between road trips and the All-Star break, Doug Christie’s group had few opportunities to practice and integrate him along with Jake LaRavia, Jonas Valanciunas, and, most recently, Markelle Fultz.

After a blowout loss to the Golden State Warriors on Friday, their first game back from the break, Christie called for their new centerpiece to stop trying to fit in and just be himself.

“We need Zach [LaVine] to be aggressive and be the guy we’ve always known him to be,” he said after the disappointing loss.

That message seems to have been heard loud and clear.

When is the next Sacramento Kings game?

The Sacramento Kings will embark on a four-game road trip that begins on Wednesday night against the lowly Utah Jazz.

Sacramento is looking for a clean four-game regular season series sweep of the Jazz after winning the first three games against Utah this season, including a 141-97 throttling at Golden 1 Center on December 8th.
