Zach LaVine has already joined rare Sacramento Kings company

Zach LaVine is getting comfortable in his new role with the Sacramento Kings, and his play is translating to wins for the Beam Team.

LaVine received Western Conference Player of the Week honors–his first NBA Player of the Week honors during his NBA career–after averaging 28.0 points and 5.7 rebounds per game on 63 percent shooting from three-point range during a perfect 3-0 week for Sacramento.

The Kings secured a fourth-straight win on Monday night in Dallas, and LaVine had another strong showing, finishing the night with 22 points on eight-of-12 shooting from the field and four-of-five from downtown.

Sacramento (32-28) is a season-best four games over the .500 mark and just one half-game back of the sixth seed in the Western Conference standings, with LaVine’s play posing as the top storyline around this rejuvenating four-game winning streak.

LaVine’s honor of Western Conference Player of the Week places him in rare company, as only a handful of Sacramento Kings players have received the award over the years.

We’ll see if LaVine has more Player of the Week honors in his future, but it’s fair to assume that the 29-year-old would rather see the Kings secure a playoff spot instead.

If LaVine continues to set fire to the nets as he has over the past few weeks, it will bode well for Sacramento’s chances of making the playoffs for the second time since the 2005-06 season.

When is the next Sacramento Kings game?

Sacramento will look to complete a perfect 4-0 road trip and secure a fifth-straight win on Wednesday night when they face Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets.

The Kings have dropped both regular season matchups against Denver, including a 132-123 loss at Ball Arena on January 23rd. During the win, Jokic finished the night with an astounding 35-point, 22-rebound, 17-assist, and two-block stat-line.
