The Sacramento Kings are bringing back a familiar face for the 2025-26 season.

According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, the Kings have reached an agreement with free agent forward Doug McDermott on a one-year deal. McDermott’s $3.6 million salary aligns with the veteran’s minimum for players with 10 or more years of experience.

McDermott joined Sacramento during the final days of training camp and remained on the roster throughout the duration of the 2024-25 season, providing the Kings with forward depth and three-point shooting off the bench.

Over 42 appearances (three starts), the 10-year NBA veteran averaged 3.5 points per game on 43.6 percent shooting from beyond the arc.

McDermott became somewhat of a fan-favorite due to his multiple instances of late-game flamethrowing, including an impressive performance on December 8th that saw the sharpshooter score 18 points on six-of-seven shooting from long distance over just eight minutes of playing time.

The six-triple showing made McDermott just the fourth player in Kings franchise history to make 6+ three-pointers in a single period, joining Keegan Murray (7, 2023), Harrison Barnes (6, 2021), and Omri Casspi (6, 2015).
