Western Conference Standings Update: The finish line has arrived

As we enter the final week of the 2024-25 NBA regular season, much is yet to be determined in the Western Conference standings.

The top-seeded Oklahoma City Thunder stand alone at the top of the conference, having already clinched the top seed in the West as they prepare for the first round of the Playoffs.

Outside of OKC, there could be plenty of movement before the postseason begins next week, starting with the third through eighth seeds, which are separated by just two games.

Of course, many eyes are currently on the race for the Play-In, with three teams fighting it out for the West’s two final postseason spots: the Sacramento Kings, Dallas Mavericks, and Phoenix Suns.

The Kings (39-40) concluded a six-game road trip with a three-game winning streak, capped off by back-to-back wins over the 62-win Cleveland Cavaliers and this season’s surprise team in the East, the Detroit Pistons.

Sacramento’s winning streak arrived at an ideal time. They have moved out of the danger zone of missing the postseason entirely and are now just one win away from clinching home-court advantage in the nine vs. ten-seed game.

Here’s an updated look at the Western Conference standings with less than two weeks remaining in the regular season:

Sacramento owns the tie-breaker over Dallas (3-0).

The Kings have one head-to-head matchup with Phoenix remaining–the final game of the regular season on April 13th. Sacramento currently leads the regular season series 2-1.

When is the next Sacramento Kings game?

The Sacramento Kings will return home for their final homestand–and final three games of the regular season–on Wednesday night when they face Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets in a game that will be carried nationally on ESPN.

Denver is 3-0 against Sacramento this season, including a 116-110 win over the Kings at Ball Arena back on March 5th.
