NBA TV host Chris Miles joined the Deuce & Mo Show Wednesday to talk about the state of the NBA’s Western Conference and where the Sacramento Kings fit, the NBA Coach of the Year race and more.

“A lot of times, when it comes down to the voters, there’s sympathy for teams that have had like a title wave and I kind of look at Taylor Jenkins and think, he’s going to get the vote,” Miles said. “Mike Brown three weeks ago, a month ago, I’m like obviously. But I’m like man, the Grizzlies are second out West, Tyus Jones turning it up a notch, they have played without their center, without their backup center/power forward, they started the season without Jaren Jackson Jr., then this Ja Morant thing happened and they’re still right there. I think it’s going to be one of those two.”

Topics discussed include:

  • What are national analysts from NBATV saying about Mike Brown and the Sacramento Kings
  • Have De’Aaron Fox and Domantas Sabonis made legitimate cases for All-NBA nods?
  • How Mike Brown and his coaching staff understood how to properly use Sabonis.
  • How big of a threat can the Kings be in the postseason?
  • “Playoff basketball is going to be can you defend, not the entire game, but can you defend when it matters,” Miles said.
  • How he doesn’t have a favorite coming out of the Western Conference.
  • “There is a huge blemish with every team. For the Kings, it’s defense. For the Nuggets it’s can we trust them to defend the wing? For the Suns, can they be healthy? For the Grizzlies, they have injuries up front and the Ja Morant situation. There’s so much to wonder about every team.”
  • If the Phoenix Suns will have enough time together to play well enough in the postseason.
  • Do Kyrie Irving and Luka Dončić have a future together?
  • Being the founding member of the Giannis Antetokounmpo fan club.
  • Why Giannis should be the Defensive Player of the Year favorite over teammate Brook Lopez.
  • Whoever has the best records between Giannis, Joel Embiid and Nikola Jokić should be the MVP this year.
