Already the Stats Preform FCS National Offensive Player of the Week, UC Davis football senior running back Lan Larison has added another trophy to his case, being named the Big Sky Offensive Player of the Week after his 273 all-purpose yard performance at Sacramento State.
It’s Larison’s second Big Sky weekly honor, having been named the Big Sky Offensive Player of the Week on Oct. 21 after his game at Eastern Washington. He joins redshirt-junior linebacker David Meyer with having earned multiple Big Sky weekly honors this season.
The Aggie back ran for 148 yards on 23 touches and scored three rushing touchdowns. Including putting a dagger into the side of Sacramento State with a game-long 59-yard touchdown scamper in the fourth quarter. Larison also finished with 69 yards receiving on four catches, returned four kicks for 56 yards and recovered an onside kick to seal the game for the Aggies.
Currently Larison leads all running backs in the nation in both receiving yards (755) and receiving touchdowns (six) and he leads the nation in total all-purpose yards (2,132) and all-purpose yards per game (177.7). And he set school records this season in single season all-purpose yards and career all-purpose yards.
“If he doesn’t win the Walter Payton award, it really is a shame…He’s the best player in the country.”

More on UC Davis football
Following a historic season which saw UC Davis football win 10 games for only the second time in the Division I era, the Aggies have come in as No. 5 in the NCAA Division I Football Championships, earning a first-round bye and at least one home playoff game on the road to Frisco, Texas.
UC Davis will await the winner of No. 12 Illinois State and Southeast Missouri State, with that game set to go on Nov. 30 at 9 a.m. PT on ESPN+. The Aggies will host the winner of that game on Dec. 7 with kick set for 1 p.m.
The No. 5 seeding is the highest the Aggies have had in program history, in only their third Division I playoff appearance, and first since 2021. Their previous high seeding was in 2018 when they came in at No. 6, and the second-round game at home will be only the second home playoff game in program history, having hosted and beaten Northern Iowa in 2018.
