Former Aggie and first-year head coach Tim Plough, having led UC Davis football into the top five, has been named the Football Championship Subdivision Region Five Coach of the Year as part of the American Football Coaches Association’s award season.
Plough, who took over the helm in late November following the 2023 season, has led the Aggies to the top of the Big Sky, sitting at 9-2 (6-1) with just one game left to play. Already a lock for the FCS Playoffs, Plough has led the Aggies to top 10 wins over No. 5 Idaho and a win at No. 7 Montana, to go along with a taking UC Davis on a nine-game winning streak through the season.
Under Plough’s guidance, senior running back Lan Larison leads the nation in all-purpose yards and senior quarterback Miles Hastings has reemerged as one of the best passers in the nation, throwing for over 3,000 yards as he passed 10,000 yards for his career this past weekend against Montana State.
