New York Giants Fire Head Coach Ben McAdoo After Losing To Oakland Raiders
Following the New York Giants (2-10) losing to the Oakland Raiders, head coach Ben McAdoo along with general manager Jerry Reese were fired, according to NFL.
McAdoo was fired less than two seasons into his tenure.
Giants co-owner John Mara confirmed the news about the two being relieved from the Giants during a press conference.
“I also feel he will be a successful head coach at some point in the future. I think he’s going to learn from his experience here and he’ll go on and be a successful head coach,” Mara said about McAdoo’s future.
Defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo will take over as interim head coach and Kevin Abrams as GM for the rest of the NFL season.
Mara let press know that he asked former general manager Ernie Accorsi if he would serve as a consultant for a new coach and GM.
This decision was not only due to the loss to the Raiders but also after he handled the benching of Eli Manning in favor of Geno Smith.
Final score of last Sunday’s game 24-17.
