Japanese Kayaker Caught Drugging Rival At National Championships

Yasuhiro Suzuki, a kayaker in Japan, has been caught spiking the drink of his opponent.

The incident happened at last year’s national championships, according to St. Louis Post Dispatch.

The Japan Anti-Doping Agency announced on Tuesday that Suzuki spiked rival Seiji Komatsu’s drink with an anabolic steroid ensuring he’d fail a doping test.

Komatsu denied taking drugs, prompting an investigation which ultimately led to Suzuki. He eventually admitted the truth.

Yasuhiro Suzuki has been banned from competing for eight years.
