(Original Caption) Dub Jones, Cleveland Browns Halfback called by Coach Paul Brown, "The best halfback in football" proved it again today when he scored six touchdowns against the highly regarded Chicago Bears. Jones accounted for all the Browns TDs in their 42-21 romp over the Bears. For his feat of tying the record of six touchdowns in one game set by Ernie Nevers in 1929. 1895 – America’s 1st auto race from Chicago to Evanston and back. Six cars raced 55 miles, with an average speed of seven miles-per-hour.

1925 – NHL goalie Georges Vezina collapses during game, dies 4 months later.

1929 – Fullback Ernie Nevers sets NFL record for most points scored in a game, scoring all 40 of the Cardinals’ 40-7 win over the Chicago Bears.

1938 – 4th Heisman Trophy awarded to Davey O’Brien, quarterback for Texas Christian.
