The San Francisco 49ers have long been viewed as one of the premier franchises in all of football. So, it’s only right their star player, Christian McCaffrey, graces the cover of the next installment of Madden.

The 49ers’ star running back has officially been named the cover athlete for EA Sports’ Madden 25 video game, releasing everywhere in August. This is the first time a member of the Red & Gold has graced the cover of the illustrious video game franchise, and the first time a non-quarterback has been selected since 2019.

CMC will feature on both the regular and deluxe editions of the game as the lone cover athlete.

Christian McCaffrey, 28, has been an offensive juggernaut since joining the 49ers midway through the 2022 season. The Colorado native has amassed nearly 4,000 scrimmage yards and 39 touchdowns (regular season and playoffs) in 33 games played in Red & Gold. He has also throw for a score as well, making him the complete package for coach Kyle Shanahan’s offense.

The player successfully negotiated a new contract for himself last week, locking him into SF through the 2027 season.

Alongside other stars, (Brock Purdy, Deebo Samuel, George Kittle etc.), CMC & Co. have produced one of the most prolific offenses in recent years. SF has shown such with their playoff success, making the NFC Championship game four years in a row. Unfortunately, the quest for Lombardi Trophy #6 ended in heartbreak last February, losing to the Kansas City Chiefs and Patrick Mahomes in overtime of Super Bowl LVIII.

While the 49ers and Christian McCaffrey remain hellbent on getting back there, for now, they celebrate this outstanding honor for their star ballcarrier.
