It’s no secret that the Las Vegas Raiders and star wide receiver Davante Adams are heading towards a split, and now it’s looking as if a resolution could take place in the near future.

According to NFL insider Jordan Schultz, the Raiders prefer to get a trade for Adams done “sooner rather than later” as they look to turn the page on the recent drama that has surrounded the franchise.

While Las Vegas will look to find a trade partner for the six-time Pro Bowler, finding a suitor that is willing to absorb the entirety of Adams’ remaining contract ($88 million through the 2026 season) could be the deciding factor in when the Fresno State product gets moved.

According to Schultz’s report, the Raiders don’t want to be on the hook for any of Adams’ remaining contract, but that likely won’t stop a team from taking on one of the best receivers in the league.

Adams, 31, has hauled in 1,000 receiving yards or more in four straight seasons, while his 96 career touchdowns place him at 13th on the all-time receiving touchdown leaderboard in NFL history.

Last week, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that trade talks for Adams would intensify this week, while NFL Network’s Ian Rappoport reported on Sunday that the New Orleans Saints are the most aggressive suitor for Adams.

A trade to New Orleans would reunite Adams with his former college and Raiders quarterback Derek Carr, who is leading a Saints offense that enters play on Monday leading the NFL in points per game (31.8).
