The San Francisco 49ers’ injury woes continue, this time with star quarterback Brock Purdy suffering from a shoulder injury.

49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan shared on Friday that Purdy will not play in Sunday’s matchup against the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field. Along with Purdy’s absence, San Francisco will be without defensive end Nick Bosa due to hip and oblique injuries suffered last weekend against Seattle.

According to Shanahan, Purdy underwent an MRI examination that showed no significant damage. The 24-year-old has a chance to play against Buffalo in Week 13 on Sunday Night Football.

While Purdy and Bosa will be sidelined, the 49ers will get tight end George Kittle (hamstring) back in Green Bay as San Francisco (5-5) aims to aid its postseason hopes.

Brandon Allen will start at quarterback in place of the injured Purdy. The 32-year-old hasn’t started a game since the 2021 season when he played for the Cincinnati Bengals.
