Former San Francisco 49ers offensive guard Larry Allen, a Pro Football Hall of Fame member, has passed away at the age of 52.

According to multiple reports, Allen suddenly passed away over the weekend while on vacation in Mexico.

The 11-time Pro Bowler and six-time First-Team All-Pro member spent 12 of his 14 seasons with the Dallas Cowboys from 1994-2005 before finishing his career with the San Francisco 49ers during the 2005-06 seasons.

Allen was a key member of the 49ers’ offensive line that created holes for running back Frank Gore’s career-high 1,695 rushing yards in 2006.

More on former 49ers guard Larry Allen

“Larry, known for his great athleticism and incredible strength, was one of the most respected, accomplished offensive linemen to ever play in the NFL,” the Dallas Cowboys said of Allen’s passing in a statement released on Monday morning.

“His versatility and dependability were also signature parts of his career. Through that, he continued to serve as inspiration for many other players, defining what it meant to be a great teammate, competitor and winner.”

“He was deeply loved and cared for by his wife, Janelle, whom he referred to as his heart and soul, his daughters Jayla and Loriana and son, Larry III. The Jones family and the Cowboys extend their deepest condolences, thoughts and prayers to the Allen family and grieve along with the many other friends and Cowboys teammates that also loved Larry.”

Allen won a Super Bowl in 1995 and was named to the NFL’s All-Decade team for the 2000s.
