The San Francisco 49ers today announced that the team has signed OL Matt Hennessy to a two-year deal and OL Sebastian Gutierrez to the team’s practice squad. In order to make room on the roster, the team placed T Trent Williams on the Injured Reserve List.
Hennessy (6-3, 315) was originally drafted by the Atlanta Falcons in the third round (78th overall) of the 2020 NFL Draft. Throughout his five-year career, Hennessy has appeared in 45 games (22 starts) with the Falcons (2020-24). In 2024, Hennessy signed with the Philadelphia Eagles on March 13 and was later waived by the team on August 27. He then signed to the Falcons practice squad on September 24 and went on to appear in four games between the active roster and practice squad.
A 27-year-old native of Ramsey, NJ, Hennessy attended Temple University for four seasons (2016-19), where he appeared in 39 games and earned First-Team All-ECAC in 2019.
Gutierrez (6-6, 310) originally entered the NFL after signing with the Denver Broncos as an undrafted free agent on May 13, 2022. Throughout his three-year NFL career, he has spent time on the practice squads with the New England Patriots (2022), Las Vegas Raiders (2022-23), Kansas City Chiefs (2023), 49ers (2024), Cleveland Browns (2024) and Indianapolis Colts (2024) and has appeared in one game with the Raiders. In 2024, Gutierrez spent time on the 49ers, Browns and Colts practice squads prior to being released from San Francisco’s practice squad on December 21.
A 26-year-old native of Pasco, WA, Gutierrez attended Minot State University (2016-20) where he appeared in 40 games.
