Eagles, QB Jalen Hurts agree to five-year, $255 million extension
QB Jalen Hurts & the Eagles have agreed to a five-year contract extension Monday, making him the highest-paid player in NFL history.

The Philadelphia Eagles have decided to give quarterback Jalen Hurts “the bag” right before the start of the offseason program.
Reports surfaced Monday that Hurts and the Eagles have agreed to a five-year, $255 million deal, making him the highest paid player in NFL history. The deal includes a no-trade clause, with $179.304 million guaranteed. The contract runs through the 2028 season. Hurts could make up to $274.304 million by the end of the deal, based on various incentives
NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero and Ian Rapoport were first to report the news. The Eagles confirmed the deal thereafter.

Jalen Hurts, 24, had a breakout season in 2022, throwing for 3701 passing yards, 22 touchdowns and six interceptions. He was also effective with his legs, running for 760 yards and 13 rushing TDs. He finished with a 14-1 record as the starter, missing two games due to injury.
Hurts led Philly to its’ first Super Bowl appearance in five years last season, defeating the New York Giants and San Francisco 49ers along the way. The Oklahoma standout was electric in Super Bowl LVII, combining for 274 yards of total offense and four total scores on the day. QB Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs proved too much for the Eagles though, ultimately winning 38-35 on a late field goal.
Hurts will now attempt to build off his MVP-runner-up season, hoping to bring Philly its’ second Super Bowl title in the very near future.
