Green Bay Packers officially trade Aaron Rodgers to New York Jets

At long last, quarterback Aaron Rodgers has been traded to the New York Jets.

News broke Monday afternoon that the Green Bay Packers and New York Jets have finally agreed on a deal that sends the Northern California native to the Big Apple. According to ESPN, the Packers receive the following:

• New York’s 2023 first-round pick (No. 13 overall),
• a 2023 second-round pick (No. 42),
• a 2023 sixth-round pick (No. 207)
• a conditional 2024 second-ro0und pick

The Jets get the Packers’ 2023 first and fifth-round picks along with Rodgers. The trade was finalized roughly a month after Rodgers appeared on the Pat McAfee Show, saying his “intention” is to play for the Jets in 2023.

Packers get:

This isn’t the first time the two storied franchises have made a trade involving a quarterback. Fifteen years ago, the Packers traded aging star Brett Favre to the Jets, paving the way for Rodgers to become the new starter in Green Bay. Since taking over, Aaron Rodgers won four NFL MVPs, led the Packers to the postseasons 11 times with one Super Bowl win.

Green Bay is now expected to turn over the reigns to Jordan Love, the team’s 2020 first-round pick who has spent the last three season in a backup role to Rodgers.
