Listen: Mark Schlereth Has Passionate Take On The NFL’s Concussion Controversy

Tua Tagovailoa has been the center of concussion conversations for the past two weeks.

In Week 3 against the Buffalo Bills, Tagovailoa stumbled after hitting his head hard on the ground. He exited the game briefly but returned after halftime. The Miami Dolphins later clarified the stumbling wasn’t because of his head hitting the ground, but because of a back injury.

The following week against the Cincinnati Bengals, he again looked to have hit his head hard on the ground. The team has already ruled him out of Week 5 as the quarterback works his way through the NFL’s concussion protocols.

Mark Schlereth, NFL broadcaster with Fox Sports and host “Schlereth and Evans” alongside Mike Evans on Denver’s 104.3 FM The Fan, joined Cattles & Ramie on Tuesday to discuss this situation. The former NFL offensive lineman spoke passionately about what the NFL needs to do to better protect its players.

“This whole conversation about concussions pisses me off and you don’t have enough time on your program for me to go into depth of all the things I feel,” Schlereth said.

• “If you play football, you’re going to have brain damage, it’s the way it goes.”
• Players want to play, but there need to be people who monitor these players better.
