Raiders Stay Perfect

I love just about everything about the NFL with the exception of games that end in a tie.

They are the worst. I can’t stand them. The Raiders and Dolphins almost tied on Sunday, but they didn’t as Las Vegas stayed perfect. The Raiders defeated Miami 31-28 in overtime to improve to (3-0) as they erased a double-digit deficit to win.

More Carr:

Derek Carr had an early interception that put the Raiders in a hole but he rallied and continues to play good football. Carr has this offense humming. DC completed 26 passes for 386 more yards and 2 touchdowns. He also led two overtime drives that produced points including the game winner.

Weapons of Mass Destruction:

If Carr is hot that means that someone has to be catching the passes. The Raiders had nine different players that caught a pass on Sunday. Four of the nine had over 50 yards receiving. This is not just a Darren Waller offense. Edwards, Ruggs and Renfrow also went over the 50 yard mark in the win.

Hello, Peyton Barber:

The Raiders have some offensive line injuries and some running back issues. With Josh Jacobs out the run game had been questionable. Kenyan Drake has been able to get some yards but has been more effective as a pass catcher. Enter Peyton Barber. Barber got the carries on Sunday and produced for the silver and black. He ended the game with 23 carries and 111 yards plus a score. Add in the 3 catches and 31 yards receiving and it was truly a great game for the newly added Raider. Barber also had a critical run in overtime that helped set up the Raiders for the win.

The Improved Defense:

It always felt like all the Raiders defense could do was go up. They have done that and then some. This was not a perfect performance by them but after the two score deficit the kept the Dolphins at 14 for two plus quarters. The defense could have helped with some 4th down stops late but yet again they have improved.

Help in the AFC West:

The Raiders are (3-0), the Broncos are (3-0), just like we all expected. The Chargers now are (2-1) and the favorite Chiefs are (1-2) and haven’t looked great yet. The Raiders could create even more separation with a Monday night win against the Chargers this week.
