Papa John’s founder and CEO John Schnatter is stepping down following comments he made connecting poor sales to the NFL.

According to the Washington Post, this news comes weeks after his comments made about the NFL national anthem protests.

Reports indicate that Schnatter will serve as a chairman. Steve Ritchie will reportedly fill the CEO role.
