QB Lamar Jackson officially requests trade from Ravens
After weeks of speculation, QB Lamar Jackson confirmed on social media that he has requested a trade away from the Baltimore Ravens.

It’s official: Lamar Jackson has requested a trade away from the Baltimore Ravens.
After weeks of speculation, Jackson took to social media Monday to clear the air, including on his plans to resume his football career with a new franchise. The former league MVP posted a lengthy statement to his Twitter account, acknowledging that he requested a trade at the beginning of March.
“In regards to my future plans,” Jackson tweeted Monday. “As of March 2nd I requested a trade from the Ravens organization for which the Ravens has not been interested in meeting my value, any and everyone that’s has met me or been around me know I love the game of football and my dream is to help a team win the Super Bowl.”

The decision to speak out publicly comes at the beginning of the NFL owner’s meetings this week, a move that put the Ravens in an uncomfortable situation. Jackson sent the message out prior to head coach John Harbaugh speaking to the media Monday, putting him in a tough spot.
“I haven’t seen the tweet. It’s an ongoing process,” Harbaugh said to the media. “I’m following it very closely…looking forward to a resolution. I’m excited, thinking about Lamar [Jackson] all the time, thinking about him as our quarterback.”

While the Ravens’ brass continues to reiterate that Jackson will be the team’s QB, the 26-year-old is not under contract at the moment. Baltimore extended the non-exclusive franchise tag to Lamar weeks ago, a contract that the player has not signed at this moment. Hoping for a deal more suited to his perceived value, Jackson will continue to search for his next NFL destination.
A former league MVP, Lamar Jackson has gone 45-16 as a starting QB in the NFL. A dual threat on the field, the Louisville alum has amassed 12,209 passing yards, 4,437 rushing yards and 125 total TDs in five seasons. Jackson is reportedly looking for a fully-guaranteed deal this offseason, similar to QB Deshaun Watson’s five-year, $230 million deal.
