A First In Franchise History: Las Vegas Raiders Go Undefeated In Preseason

Now that the NFL preseason is officially over, the Las Vegas Raiders can say they were able to accomplish something they’ve never done before in team history.

The Raiders were one of six teams to go undefeated in the preseason. The other teams include the New York Jets, Pittsburg Steelers Baltimore Ravens, Chicago Bears, and Houston Texans. In the franchise’s history, this was the team’s first undefeated preseason. The team accomplished this feat without Derek Carr, Davante Adams, Darren Waller, and other key starters.

Speaking to the media over the weekend, coach Josh McDaniels said the new regime has preached competing, whether it’s during a practice drill or a quarter during a game.

“These guys have competed every single day, and what we’ve basically tried to do is get them to understand that competition makes us all better,” McDaniels said.

The Las Vegas Raiders lodged a couple more impressive stats during their preseason run. Over four games, the team did not commit a single turnover. The last time the team did that was in 2004. And, they notched their fewest total penalty yards in the preseason in 22 years, only committing 13 penalties for 95 yards.

“Every game we play, whether it’s a preseason game or regular season game, we’re only going to go there and show up to do the one thing that we’re trying to do every week and that’s to win,” McDaniels said. “I’m proud of the team’s effort and competitiveness throughout the preseason, and now we’re looking forward to the regular season.”
