Professional athletes risk it all to take home the glory at the end of the year, with Arik Armstead doing that for this postseason run with the 49ers.

The San Francisco 49ers defensive tackle revealed that he suffered a torn meniscus in his right knee in Week 13 against the Philadelphia Eagles. He suffered the injury early in the game, playing through it to a 42-19 win in Philly. He would go on to miss the rest of the regular season, returning for a productive postseason run with the 49ers.

However, Armstead wasn’t sure if he could return from the knee injury at the time, putting in countless hours of rehab to help his team reach Super Bowl LVIII.

“I didn’t know if I was going to be able to come back,” Arik Armstead shared Tuesday. “I put in a lot of hard work to get back for the playoffs and yeah, I’m gonna have to get that taken care of [this offseason]. So, still figuring that out.”

Armstead, 30, is set for offseason surgery on his right knee, needing a full repair of his meniscus. The timeline for recovery is typically a few months, with the player hoping to be ready to go for the start of training camp at the end of summer.

“We’ll see. The [timeline] should be around then, for training camp. So, we’ll see how it goes, but yeah, that’s what I was dealing with,” he stated.

Armstead went through extensive rehab to be ready for the 2024 postseason, knowing this could be the year the 49ers go all the way. While the end result wasn’t what they wanted, Armstead wasn’t missing a chance to finish the job with this unit.

“I wouldn’t have missed this run for anything,” Armstead stated. “I’m glad I was able to get back in my team into this role and try to win one said our team is too special and I wouldn’t want to miss that for anything.”
