49ers WR Jauan Jennings OUT vs. Cowboys Sunday

The 49ers Week 8 really needing a win on Sunday. Unfortunately, they’ll be without Jauan Jennings for a second  week in a row.

San Francisco 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan announced Friday that wide receiver will be ruled out ahead of Week 8’s clash with the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday Night Football. Jennings was unable to return to practice this week, still battling a hip injury he sustained Week 6 against the Seattle Seahawks. Missing Week 7 due to the injury, Jennings will look to return following the 49ers’ Week 9 Bye.

Already losing fellow WR Brandon Aiyuk for the year, Jennings leaves SF a bit thin at pass catcher Sunday.

Jauan Jennings, 27, signed a two-year, $15.7 million extension with the 49ers over the offseason. The former seventh-round pick has exceeded expectations, becoming a focal member of coach Kyle Shanahan’s offense. 2024 has been a breakout in some respects, only 13 receiving yards away from breaking his career high for a season (404). The Tennessee alum has done so through only six games.

Joining Jennings on the sidelines for Week 8 is kicker Jake Moody (ankle) and defensive lineman Kevin Givens (groin). All three 49ers are expected back after the bye week.

Additionally, WR Deebo Samuel and tight end George Kittle are questionable for Week 8.

Samuel is battling a wrist injury and an illness, as the latter prevented him from playing more than four snaps last Sunday. The star player was hospitalized due to pneumonia after fluid was found in his lungs. After missing Wednesday’s practice, Samuel finished the practice week strong, looking to return to action Sunday night.

Kittle is dealing with foot sprain, also missing Wednesday’s session. He too returned Thursday, and is expected to suit up for Week 8 vs. Dallas.
