The San Francisco 49ers continue to add depth to their secondary, agreeing to a one-year deal with cornerback Nate Hobbs as they shape the roster ahead of the upcoming season.

Hobbs brings starting experience and physicality to a defensive backfield that the 49ers are continuing to reinforce through both veteran additions and internal competition.

For the 49ers, the addition of Hobbs represents a low-risk, high-upside move. The 26-year-old has flashed playmaking ability throughout his career, and his versatility in coverage could give the defense added flexibility against today’s pass-heavy offenses.

With training camp approaching, Hobbs will have a clear opportunity to compete for a role and potentially carve out meaningful snaps in the 49ers’ secondary.

The San Francisco 49ers today announced they have signed CB Nate Hobbs to a one-year deal.

Hobbs (6-0, 195) was originally drafted by the Las Vegas Raiders in the fifth round (167th overall) of the 2021 NFL Draft. Throughout his five-year career with the Raiders (2021-24) and Green Bay Packers (2025), he has appeared in 62 games (43 starts) and registered 304 tackles, 21 passes defensed, three interceptions, 3.0 sacks, three forced fumbles and one forced fumble.

He has also appeared in one postseason contest and recorded five tackles and one pass defensed. In 2025, Hobbs appeared in 11 games (five starts) with Green Bay where he registered 26 tackles and two passes defensed.

A 26-year-old native of Louisville, KY, Hobbs attended the University of Illinois where he appeared in 39 games (35 starts) over four seasons (2017-20) and recorded 168 tackles, 18 passes defensed, three interceptions, 1.0 sack, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery.
