Deebo Samuel is ‘tired’ of the Eagles’ trash talk in tell-all Complex interview

Months removed from the 2023 NFC Championship Game, and the 49ers and Eagles are still chirping away, especially Deebo Samuel.

In a recent interview with Complex, the San Francisco 49ers wideout did not hold back on the Philadelphia-based team. Still feeling some animosity towards the Eagles’ players and fanbase, Samuel has had enough of all the slander that resulted from the January loss last season.

“All the trash talk coming from the Eagles’ fan base and the players, you just get tired of that,” Samuel stated in the interview.

While the Eagles did go on to dominate the 49ers, 33-7, the visiting team lost starting quarterback Brock Purdy on the first series of the game to an elbow injury. An MRI would reveal that Purdy suffered a torn UCL in his throwing elbow, rendering him unable to sling the football for the remainder of the game.

Without a starting QB, Samuel feels that the Red & Gold were playing with 10 players in the NFC Championship and vows that if Purdy never got hurt, the outcome of the contest would have been entirely different.

“We lost because we played with 10 people,” Deebo Samuel continued. “I ain’t going to keep going on about what could’ve happened and what would’ve happened but yeah, it would’ve definitely been a different outcome (if healthy).”

Samuel’s statements come after months of back-and-forth between Eagles and 49ers players, including fellow 49ers WR Brandon Aiyuk betting that the Kansas City Chiefs would expose Philly in the Super Bowl.

“If I were going to bet on this game, I would take everything that I own, get it in cash, and put my money on the Kansas City Chiefs,” Aiyuk exclaimed.  “I don’t know fully about that defense…They talk about them being a good defense; I’m not sure. I think the pass game, this Kansas City pass game, will expose what we thought we were going to be able to expose before some unfortunate circumstances.”

The Chiefs were the eventual winners of Super Bowl 57, defeating the Eagles, 38-35, on a last-second field goal.
