Report: 49ers vs Eagles not expected to be flexed for primetime slot

According to Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports, FOX plans to protect the 49ers and Eagles matchup on Sunday, Dec. 3, from being moved to primetime.

In Week 13, the San Francisco 49ers take on the Philadelphia Eagles in a rematch of last season’s NFC Western Conference Finals.

The game will have a primetime feel, without being on primetime television.

According to Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports, FOX plans to protect the 49ers and Eagles matchup on Sunday, Dec. 3, from being moved. Currently scheduled for Sunday Night Football in Week 13 is the Kansas City Chiefs traveling to Green Bay to take on the Packers. While the Chiefs lead the AFC West, the Packers look lost without Aaron Rodgers behind center.

Before the 49ers travel to Philadelphia to take on the Eagles, they travel to Seattle to take on the Seahawks for the first time this season. Currently, the Seahawks and 49ers are tied for first atop the NFC West, both with 6-3 records.

The 49ers-Eagles game on Dec. 3 is not expected to be flexed to Sunday Night Football.

FOX plans to protect that game for its 1:25 pm PT/4:25 pm ET time slot, league source says.

This year, the league is expanding its flexing capabilities to include Monday and Thursday Night Football. Networks like FOX or CBS are allowed to protect one game a week from being flexed.
