The San Francisco 49ers had a busy second day of the 2026 NFL Draft, adding three rookies while also trading away one of their starters from last season.
Heading into day one, San Francisco general manager John Lynch’s lone pre-existing opportunity was at the 27th pick.
They elected to trade down twice, first moving to 30th, then 33rd, the first pick of the second round.

Round 2, Pick 33: WR De’Zhaun Stribling (Ole Miss)
Staying at that spot on Friday, they added Ole Miss wide reciever De’Zhaun Stribling in a polarizing move.
Stribling, 6’2″, spent his first two collegiate seasons at Washington State before transferring to Oklahoma State. He missed a majority of his first year with the Cowboys due to injury, but bounced back well from there.
Spending last season with Ole Miss, Stribbling recorded 811 yards and six touchdowns for a team that surprisingly made a run to the College Football Playoffs Semifinals before being eliminated by Miami.

Draft Night Trade: LB Dee Winters
Trading with a franchise rival, even if they are outside of the division, is never going to be a popular move with the fanbase, and the Cowboys may bring out the most feelings of any.
But linebacker Dee Winters, a former sixth-round selection in the 2023 Draft, was moved to Dallas in exchange for pick No. 152.
Due to injuries and other players finding new homes, Winters started in all 17 games last season. Perhaps the return of Dre Greenlaw made them more willing to make the move to add another Day 3 pick.

Round 3, Pick 70th: DL Romello Height (Texas Tech)
Electing to once again trade down from their original draft slot at 58th in the second round, Lynch accepted a deal that sent picks 58 and 152 to the Cleveland Browns for picks 70 and 107.
Staying at 70, they added Texas Tech defensive lineman Romello Height. In 2025 at Texas Tech, he started all 14 games he played and tallied 38 tackles, 9.5 sacks, and 2 forced fumbles, earning First-Team All-Big 12 honors.

Round 3, Pick 90: RB Kaelon Black (Indiana)
As they usually do, Lynch and head coach Kyle Shanahan added a rookie running back as well.
With their third pick of the 2026 Draft, they took Indiana RB, Kaelon Black.
In Indiana’s underdog national championship run, he appeared in all 16 games and tallied 187 carries for 1,039 yards and 10 touchdowns.
The 5’10” has some built-in familiarity, having formerly played with current San Francisco players QB Kurtis Rouke and DL C.J. West after transferring from James Madison to Indiana.
Headed into the final day, which includes rounds four through seven, the 49ers have five remaining picks at 107, 127, 133, 139, and 179.
