The San Francisco 49ers have a chance to clinch a playoff berth this weekend, but as usual in these situations, a lot has to happen.
A win Sunday against their division rival Seattle Seahawks is just the first step for the 49ers. One of three things has to happen:
- San Francisco win + Green Bay loss OR
- San Francisco win + Minnesota loss OR
- San Francisco win + Green Bay tie + Minnesota tie
The Minnesota Vikings take on the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday afternoon. If the Vikings win, then the Red & Gold won’t know their faith until the next day. Green Bay travels to New York for a primetime matchup between the Packers and Giants on Monday Night Football.

If all of that happens, then the 49ers would be one of the first teams to clinch a playoff berth. The only other two possibilities also take place in the NFC, with either the Philadelphia Eagles or Dallas Cowboys clinching a playoff berth.
