A day after retaking claim of the NFC west standings, the 49ers got some more good news in the form of a Jordan Mason update.

San Francisco 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan revealed Friday that the third-year running back did in fact suffer an AC joint sprain to his left shoulder during Week 6’s win in Seattle. However, the injury is not deemed as serious, with the player expected to be day-to-day ahead of Week 7. And with the extended days off in between games, mason has a shot to return next Sunday.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported injury news a few hours prior, with Shanahan confirming the diagnosis thereafter.

Jordan Mason, 25, injured his shoulder in the second quarter of Thursday Night Football against the Seattle Seahawks. After taking a hard tackle, Mason was slow to get up, eventually seen jogging to the locker room for further examination. He would return in the second half, but only for one play as the pain was too much to manage on the field. He finished the contest was the NFL’s leading rusher, adding nine carries for 73 rushing yards to his season total.

While he was cleared to be the emergency ballcarrier late in the contest, his injury will be wait-and-see, hoping to be back on the practice field next week.

In other injury news, rookie safety Malik Mustapha has a low-grade ankle sprain, also day-to-day ahead of Week 7.

Meanwhile, new kicker Matthew Wright suffered a dislocated shoulder in Week 6. Further testing is required still, as his status for next week remains to be determined. Wright was filling in for fellow injured K Jake Moody (ankle), making all three of his field goals Thursday.

In better news, the 49ers will open rookie wide receiver Ricky Pearsall’s practice window next week. The 2024 first-round pick has been on injured reserve since suffering a gunshot wound on August 31st. Now six week later, a return to football is on the horizon for the Arizona native.

Lastly, RB Christian McCaffrey will not have his practice window open ahead of Week 7.

CMC remains on IR as he nurses bilateral achilles tendinitis. While Shanahan did note McCaffrey’s injury is improving, it’s too soon to se a return to practice.
