Where the 49ers stand in the NFC Playoff picture

With just four weeks remaining in the NFL regular season, the San Francisco 49ers are positioned for another trip to the postseason.

At 9-4, the 49ers will return from a late BYE week this Sunday afternoon when they face the lowly Tennessee Titans (2-11) at Levi’s Stadium.

While the 49ers currently are sitting pretty in the NFC Playoff picture, are they in the clear when it comes to securing a playoff spot?

Here’s a current look at the NFC standings heading into Week 15 as teams begin their final push for postseason football.

The 49ers hold the tie-breaker over Chicago, while they also would hold the tie-breaker over Carolina due to San Francisco’s win over the Panthers in Week 12.

Following this weekend’s matchup against the struggling Titans, the 49ers will end the regular season with a gauntlet against three teams that are also fighting for a postseason spot: Indianapolis, Chicago, and Seattle.

According to Tankathon, the 49ers have the 12th-hardest remaining strength of schedule in the NFL, including the fifth-most difficult in the NFC.

Seattle, which enters play this weekend with a record of 10-3 (one game ahead of San Francisco), has the second-hardest schedule remaining as they is set to face the 49ers, Colts, and Los Angeles Rams during its final four weeks of regular-season play, which could open the door for San Francisco to leapfrog them in the standings.

The San Francisco 49ers today announced they have claimed LB Garret Wallow off waivers from the Denver Broncos. In order to make room on the roster, the team placed OL Ben Bartch on the Injured Reserve List.

Wallow (6-2, 230) was originally drafted by the Houston Texans in the fifth round (170th overall) of the 2021 NFL Draft.

Throughout his five-year career with the Texans (2021-23), Tennessee Titans (2023-24) and Broncos (2025), Wallow has appeared in 42 games (five starts) and registered 36 tackles, 1.0 sack and 1 pass defensed in addition to 11 special teams tackles.

In 2025, he appeared in seven games with the Broncos and tallied five special teams tackles prior to being waived by the team on December 6.

A 26-year-old native of River Ridge, LA, Wallow attended Texas Christian University (2017-20) where he appeared in 48 games and registered 293 tackles, 9.5 sacks, five passes defensed, three forced fumbles and one interception.

Bartch (6-6, 315) appeared in six games (two starts) with the team this season.
