Trent Williams Ranked No. 40 in NFL Top 100

San Francisco 49ers offensive tackle Trent Williams continues to defy Father Time.

The 38-year-old Williams was ranked No. 40 in the NFL’s Top 100 Players of 2026, moving up five spots from his No. 45 ranking in 2025. The list is voted on by NFL players, making Williams’ continued presence among the league’s best especially impressive as he enters his age-38 season.

Williams remains one of the most accomplished offensive linemen of his generation. The 12-time Pro Bowler and three-time first-team All-Pro has spent the past six seasons anchoring the 49ers’ offensive line after beginning his career with Washington.

He remains one of the most important parts of San Francisco’s offense heading into his age-38 campaign, having just signed a two-year extension through 2027 he admitted will “probably” be his last.

That means Williams, who has allowed a sack rate under 1% for five straight years, still has a couple shots left at an elusive Super Bowl ring to complete his Hall of Fame career.

His 2025 season was another reminder that Trent Williams still has plenty left in the tank.

He started all 16 games and played 996 offensive snaps, allowing 32 total pressures and four sacks, according to Pro Football Focus. His 0.6% sack rate ranked tied for fifth among left tackles who recorded at least 200 pass-blocking snaps.

Williams was particularly dominant as a run blocker. His 92.8 PFF run-blocking grade ranked second among all qualified tackles, while his 91.5 overall grade ranked third at the position.

That production is remarkable, considering Williams missed six games in 2024 due to injuries. He bounced back in 2025 to play every regular-season game and again establish himself as one of the NFL’s premier tackles.

The 49ers are counting on Trent Williams to remain a cornerstone of their offense in 2026, particularly as quarterback Brock Purdy and the rest of the offense look to rebound.

His experience, physical dominance, and ability to protect Purdy’s blind side remain invaluable to San Francisco.

Williams also has another milestone in sight. He recently signed a two-year extension that runs through the 2027 season and has acknowledged that the 2027 campaign will “probably” be his last.

For now, though, Williams is showing no signs of slowing down. Entering his 16th NFL season at 38 years old, the 49ers’ longtime left tackle remains one of the league’s most dominant players at his position.
