Likely a precaution, Nick Bosa was held out of 49ers practice for a second straight day.
The San Francisco 49ers defensive end was not present during the media portion of Thursday practice, dealing with hamstring irritation stemming from Week 13’s win over the Miami Dolphins. He was held out Wednesday due to the issue, with the 49ers opting for treatment on their star pass rusher.
Bosa had arguably his best performance of the season last Sunday, going for three sacks, one forced fumble and two tackles for loss. He was awarded NFC defensive player of the week honors for his efforts.
While there will be no update from Kyle Shahahan until Friday, it’s safe to assume for now that Bosa will be full-go for Week 14 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Defensive lineman Arik Armstead was seen in a second consecutive practice Thursday, limited the day prior as he nurses foot and ankle injuries. Said ailments have kept the Sacramento native off the field since Week 4 against the LA Rams, only returning Sunday to face the Dolphins.
“Yeah, he got through the game well. We have to be smart with him so it doesn’t act up like it did earlier in the year, but he had a successful game,” Shanahan shared regarding Armstead’s status this week.
While never a stat-stuffer for San Francisco, the former Pleasant Grove High School athlete was instrumental in rattling Dolphins’ quarterback Tua Tagovailoa Sunday, setting up lanes for Bosa and other pass rushers to come charging through. One play in particular, Armstead moved two of Miami’s interior linemen with sheer power, creating a crease down the middle for a looping “Bosa Bear” to get the sack.
I don't want to hear about Arik Armstead's sack numbers.
Watch him eat up 2.5 offensive linemen to free up Nick Bosa for the sack.

Also returning to the practice field Thursday is left tackle Trent Williams, taking his veteran rest day to start the week. Wide receiver Deebo Samuel (quad), running back Christian McCaffrey (knee) and guard Spencer Burford (ankle) weere all seen taking part in practice for a second day as well.
