ESPN’s Nick Friedell joined Whitey Gleason and Kyle Madson on Chris & Co. Monday to talk about the Golden State Warriors dynasty and if the Sacramento Kings season is lessened due to other teams not taking the regular season as seriously.
“I think the Kings deserve every bit of praise that they have gotten,” Friedell said, but he added it deserves to be part of a bigger conversation. “What scares me is that I just don’t think people are as into the regular season the same way anymore. And the reason why, is because very clearly, players aren’t into the regular season anymore.”
Additional topics discussed include:
- If LeBron James is the best player in the NBA’s Conference Finals
- Why an in-season tournament was agreed upon in the most recent NBA CBA
- Will the NBA ever change the way awards are given to include the playoffs?
- Can the Warriors stay title-relevant next season and beyond?
- “I don’t see them [the Warriors] winning another championship because of the financial ramifications in place. Joe Lacob, that ownership group, they spent money over and over. Bob Myers has put the right pieces in place. We’ll see what his future holds with the Warriors. But if you start looking at the money that’s already on the books, with Steph and that max deal. And Klay and the max deal he’s on. And Draymond and the deal he wants and will be forthcoming at some point. And the money you went in with Poole before the season. And Wiggins on a max deal. At some point, and this is the sad part for all the Warriors fans, that group, right now, is just not good enough.”
- The biggest question the Warriors have this offseason is what to do with Klay Thompson
- What should the NBA and Commissioner Adam Silver do with Ja Morant
