Just two weeks ago it looked like the reigning NFC Champions were in some serious trouble.

After the completion of Week 5 in the NFL, the 49ers had many issues. They had lost some impactful players on both sides of the ball. They had just been crushed at home by the Miami Dolphins, not the 1972 Miami Dolphins but the 2020 Dolphins.

Combine all of that with a seven-game stretch of brutal games, it looked like 2020 was going to be a complete regression season for San Francisco.

The 49ers went back to the lab and the coaching staff has found an identity that really works for this team. The 49ers found their first home win a week ago when they hosted the Los Angeles Rams.

The 49ers offensive line had been ripped prior to the game but played near perfect football against the Rams. Aaron Donald was a non-factor and coach Shanahan schemed his way to a brilliant performance.

Now we take you to Week 7 when the 49ers traveled East yet again.

Sure, the New England Patriots may not be the same but that does not matter. The 49ers absolutely owned that game and went back to a run heavy offense with some timely play action passes.

The defense held Cam Newton and the Patriots in check and now back-to-back wins have San Francisco thinking things are right again.

The 49ers are still missing important pieces, but Coach Kyle Shanahan has found a way to maximize the talent he has in front of him. Seahawks, Packers, Saints, Rams, and Bills await the 49ers over the next 5 games. That still sounds brutal, but the 49ers have a game plan to attack them.

At this point the 49ers have saved their season and if things go well, they could be right back on track even if their roster isn’t.
