Oakland A’s acquire infielder Darell Hernaiz from the Baltimore Orioles for two pitchers

The Oakland A’s have traded two pitchers for an infielder.
According to a press release from the team, the A’s traded pitchers Cole Irvin and Kyle Virbitsky to the Baltimore Orioles for minor league infielder Darell Hernaiz.
Hernaiz was the Orioles fifth round pick in the 2019 draft and is rated as Baltimore’s 16th-best prospect according to MiLB.com. He played for Single-A Delmarva, High-A Aberdeen and Double-A Bowie last year and batted a combined .273 with 12 home runs, 62 RBI, 32 stolen bases and a .779 OPS in 105 games. The 21-year-old right-handed hitter started 58 games at shortstop, 22 at second base, 19 at third base and two at designated hitter. Hernaiz is a .274 career hitter with 20 home runs, 122 RBI, 59 stolen bases and a .737 OPS in 228 games in three seasons in the Orioles farm system.
