Bruce Maxwell, catcher of the Oakland Athletics, will miss his team’s upcoming series against the Toronto Blue Jays at Rogers Centre, per Bleacher Report.

Maxwell currently pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct back in April, but his sentencing is scheduled for June 4.

His status remains in limbo and his original charges included gun enhancement because of that, Maxwell is ineligible to enter Canada under its immigration guidelines.

The 27-year-old allegedly pulled a gun on a food-delivery worker in Arizona last October and was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and disorderly conduct.

He pleaded guilty to the latter charge and will have to do community service and complete probation.

“Accepting responsibility is the first step in working to make amends for my lapse in judgment,” Maxwell said in a statement during his plea. “I am truly sorry for the pain that my actions have caused, and while they are not representative of who I am, I understand that I have to earn back the trust and respect of those around me.”

Jonathan Lucroy has become the team’s primary option behind the plate but Maxwell is the only other catcher on their roster.

The Athletics will likely send Maxwell down to their Triple-A for at least 10 days in order to add another catcher to the roster during this series.
