The Oakland Athletics have made their first official pitch to Shohei Ohtani, the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Ohtani, 23, comes from the Japanese Nippon-Ham Fighters. The pitch the A’s gave him reportedly centers around Bob Melvin, a new venue, and a winning club.
Sources say the team is also willing to let Ohtani play on the outfield on days he’s not starting, which other teams might not be offering.
The San Francisco Giants also have a publicized interest in Ohtani, however in September manager Bruce Bochy expressed skepticism about him playing for a team in the National League.
