Just because they play on opposite sides of the Bay, doesn’t mean the Oakland Athletics and San Francisco Giants can’t occasionally work together.
On Wednesday, the two teams announced that the A’s are sending outfielder Cal Stevenson to San Francisco in exchange for cash considerations. The Giants have optioned Stevenson to the Sacramento River Cats, the organization’s Triple-A affiliation.

“Stevenson was acquired from the Tampa Bay Rays with Christian Fernandez on July 9, 2022 for Christian Bethancourt,” the Oakland Athletics said in a press release. “He hit .167 with three doubles, one RBI, one stolen base, and eight walks in 23 games in 2022 for the A’s. Stevenson is hitting .348 with two doubles, two RBI, and six walks in seven games for Las Vegas this season. Born in Fremont and a graduate of John F. Kennedy High School, Stevenson attended Chabot JC and the University of Arizona before being selected by Toronto in the 10th round of the 2018 First-Year Player Draft.”
