The Oakland A’s made a trade over the weekend, acquiring a pitcher after just losing one to injury.
Austin Adams is heading to the Bay Area from the New York Mets in exchange for cash considerations.
“Adams, 32, made his debut in 2017 with Washington and is 6-5 with a 4.17 ERA, 170 strikeouts and 75 walks in 114.1 career innings pitched at the Major League level spanning 132 appearances,” the A’s said in a press release. “He spent 2023 with Arizona, going 0-1 with a 5.71 ERA in 17.1 Major League innings pitched, and 1-0 with a 2.84 ERA in 12.2 innings pitched with Triple-A Reno.”
The A’s have acquired RHP Austin Adams from the New York Mets in exchange for cash considerations. Adams has been selected to the 40-man roster and RHP Trevor Gott has been placed on the 60-day IL.

Adams signed with the Mets this past offseason but was “outrighted to Triple-A” in February. Milb defines outrighted as when a player is “sent from the Majors to the Minor Leagues and has cleared waivers, meaning no other team put in a claim for him.”
The move comes days after the team announced right-hander Trevor Gott will undergo Tommy John surgery, missing the entire 2024 season. Adams has been added to the active roster, while the A’s moved Gott to the 60-day injured list.
